Production of Avia trucks in the Czech Republic is over. The parent company Avia Ashok Leyland Limited will close the factory in Prague in July 2013.
The company will continue to provide after-sales services such as warranty service and sale of spare parts,.
New products should be supplied from other production facilities as soon as the economic situation improves, the company said. Avia ensure its legal obligations.
Avia, according to the Automotive Industry Association, produced in the first five months of this year only four vehicles. Sales network would reportedly be gradually extinguished and production should move to India for the parent company. The plant should close and will be sold.
The Hinduja Group, whose flagship is the second largest automaker in India – Ashok Leyland, holds Avia since 2006. At the end of 2012 the plant employed 227 workers
